Da Nang to Hoi An local bus: route 02 and the changing final stop
Plan Da Nang–Hoi An route 02 with current endpoint checks, a clear last leg to the old town and a return arranged before the evening crowds arrive.

The short answer
Route 02 links Da Nang and the Hoi An area, but official pages differ on the endpoint after 2026 updates. Confirm the current stop and direction before boarding, then plan the final old-town walk and the return independently of lantern-night expectations.
Distinguish the city bus from the airport service
The official Da Nang route directory identifies route 02 from the central bus station through the city towards Hoi An, while 01SB is a separate airport–Hoi An connection. If starting in central Da Nang, find a route 02 stop near your accommodation instead of travelling unnecessarily to the airport. If landing at the airport, compare the direct airport product. Keeping the two names separate helps prevent boarding the wrong service or assuming a fare bought for one applies to the other.
Check the newer endpoint notice
The route directory still names Cua Dai, while a 28 August 2026 official electric-conversion notice names Hai Ba Trung parking in Hoi An. This is a material difference for visitors heading to the old town. Ask the transport operator or current stop staff which endpoint and intermediate stops are active for your trip. Do not build the last leg around an old Cua Dai map without checking, and do not treat a general article’s title as confirmation that every listed stop remains unchanged.
Plan the final approach to the old town
A bus destination labelled Hoi An is not a guarantee of stopping at your exact hotel or in a pedestrian heritage street. Save your actual alighting point and measure the remaining walk, including luggage and the heat. If necessary, use a clearly identified paid ride for that last section. A day visitor can choose a comfortable starting point for the old-town walk; an overnight visitor should first solve luggage storage or check-in rather than carrying cases around a sightseeing route.
Set the return before choosing a late dinner
Check the current final useful departure and the boarding stop for the Da Nang direction before beginning sightseeing. Ordinary bus operations should not be assumed to extend until the end of every lantern celebration or dinner. If you want to stay late, arrange a legitimate alternative in advance or consider an overnight stay. Separate outbound and return planning also prevents waiting on the wrong side of a one-way street when the evening is already getting late.
Keep a bus day simple and affordable in effort
Choose a manageable number of stops, carry a small bag and allow time for waiting. Ask the fare for the actual distance rather than applying an old flat price to every ride. If a route is diverted or service is not confirmed, decide early whether a direct paid transfer fits the group’s budget. The point of taking a local bus is a workable journey, not completing an unnecessarily complex sequence that removes the time you hoped to spend in Hoi An.
Questions travellers ask
Does route 02 always finish at Cua Dai?
Official 2026 pages differ; confirm the active endpoint, including the newer Hai Ba Trung notice.
Can I rely on a bus after a lantern evening?
Only after confirming the return service for that date and stop; otherwise arrange an alternative.
